The gender super gap is set to get even bigger for female workers who accessed the Government’s COVID early release super scheme, according to a joint analysis of profit-to-member fund data released by The Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees (AIST) and Women in Super (WIS) at the annual 2020 Women’s Super Summit.

Low paid, young Australians will bear the brunt of an estimated $100 billion shortfall in retirement savings, according to analysis by Mercer and the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees (AIST).
While Australia continues to grapple with the uncertainty of life under COVID-19, the nation’s health is, and should be, always front-of-mind. However, given the significant long-term financial impacts, our supplementary submission focuses on the impact COVID-19 has had on widening an already unevenly distributed retirement savings gap.
