Dianne Orbell, Head of Regulatory Affairs, Sunsuper

Dianna has over 20 years’ experience in financial services, 15 years specifically within superannuation. She is currently Head of Regulatory Affairs with Sunsuper, transitioning to this role with the merger of Kinetic Super where she was Head of Risk and Compliance.

Di is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds a Master of Commerce (Financial Planning).

With a curiosity for organisational learning, Di has a particular interest in how good governance frameworks can support meaningful decision making through uncertainty.

Paul Schroder, Chief Risk Officer, AustralianSuper

'We're focused on understanding and effectively managing risk to deepen confidence and trust in the Fund.'

Paul is AustralianSuper’s first Chief Risk Officer. He has responsibility for the Fund’s Risk Framework including the Fund’s Risk Appetite, Risk Governance and Management Plans and Risk Culture. He is responsible for the Fund’s relationships with key regulators (in particular APRA and ASIC) and for the Fund’s Risk and Compliance team.

Paul was appointed Chief Risk Officer on 28 October 2019 having joined AustralianSuper in 2007. He was Group Executive Membership from 2013-2016 before taking on the role of Group Executive Strategy, Brand & Reputation from 2016-2019. Prior to joining AustralianSuper he was the National Secretary of the Finance Sector Union of Australia. He is a Director of SuperFriend – the industry fund Mental Health Foundation.

Paul holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne and was awarded the Shell exhibition prize for Labour economics. He also holds a diploma in Financial Planning.

Scott Charaneka, Head of Superannuation and Wealth Management, Thomson Geer

Scott Charaneka is the Head of Superannuation & Wealth Management at Thomson Geer and is an industry leading financial services lawyer. He has comprehensive experience in licensing, governance, administration, distribution, restructuring and investment matters associated with superannuation, funds management and life insurance products. He presently acts for many of Australia's largest private and public sector financial institutions. Scott has previously worked as an in-house counsel at Legal & General and ING. He is a regular speaker at conferences and has designed key training programs for boards and RMs. He was the lead editor of Wickens The Law of Life Insurance in Australia from 1998 to 2008, a co editor of CCH Australian Superannuation Law & Practice from 2001 to 2010, a co editor of the Lexis Nexis Financial Services Newsletter from 2001 to 2008 and is a current co editor of the Lexis Nexis Australian Superannuation Law Bulletin. Scott is a fellow of ASFA, the former deputy chair of its Queensland State Executive Committee, an emeritus member of the Law Council of Australia Superannuation Lawyers Committee and was appointed to APRA's Superannuation Lawyers Liaison Forum.

He was a finalist for the Lawyers Weekly Partner of the Year in Financial Services in 2017, 2018 and 2019 and has been rated in Chambers Asia-Pacific since 2018 in the Superannuation category.
