What does ‘unable’ mean in Total and Permanently Disablement polices, and how does that term impact on an insured person’s prospects of having the claim approved?

UniSuper’s Steve Parashis is here to explain and will outline the practical implications on this law with three real-life authorities.

Steve Parashis, Legal Counsel, UniSuper Management

Steve is an insurance and litigation lawyer, who specialises in total and permanent disablement claims. He has over 8 years of experience in insurance law, and has previously worked as a plaintiff personal injury lawyer litigating superannuation insurance, transport accident and work related claims.

He is currently employed as legal counsel with the UniSuper superannuation fund, where he handles most of the fund’s external complaints and litigated claims. In addition, Steve is a committee member of the fund’s Insurance Management Committee, a delegate committee of UniSuper whose function it is to approve all inbuilt and external insurance claims.
